About Us

Funded by The Lee Family Foundation to create dogooders ecosystem in Orange County and surrounding counties, OC Techhub is a purpose-driven, future-thinking community of altruistic startup curious and tech enthusiasts who share a common love of creating wonderful things to help those around them. We have a physical center in Irvine, CA where people with common interests and curiosity in computers, technology, science, entrepreneurship, and start-up business can meetup, socialize, and/or collaborate, teach, and learn.

OC Techhub (Dojo) is a community of members who share a common love of creating wonderful things and understanding how the world works. The Dojo is a do-ocracy run by members, including several self organizing teams like events, governance, community outreach, and operations. Get Involved through Events, lectures, parties, BarCamps, DevHouses, LAN parties, hackathons, knitting circles, tinkering, brainstorming, and coworking: you name it, we got it. There is lots to do at Dojo! From "fix-it" days to computing classes, or even just hanging out, you'll find something to keep you busy!

OC Techhub is a spinoff of PeopleSpace, a 501(c)(3) educational nonprofit in Irvine, California launched in 2013. It was recognized by the California State Assembly and became a member of the Greater Irvine Chamber of Commerce in 2014. PeopleSpace became an official certifying organization for The President's Volunteer Service Award in 2018. The President of the United State’s Council on Service and Civic Participation founded the President’s Volunteer Service Award to recognize the important role of volunteers in America’s strength and national identity.

이재원대표는 남가주대, 서울대, IBM 연구원 출신으로 미국 실리콘밸리에서 첨단 ERP 소프트웨어 개발을 하였습니다.  산업 경력은 1990년 성과 평과제와 함께 능력 따라 대우를 받는 미국 금융계 컨트리와이드에 입사했습니다. 채권 시장 예측 알고리즘을 만들어 채권 하루 거래량을 $500 Million 으로  올리는 비약적인 발전을 이루어낸바 있습니다. 미국 1위 MBS 트레이딩회사로 성장 후 $4 Billion 에 뱅크오브아메리카에 인수 합병됐습니다.  1998년 미국 IBM 서울지점 및 센프란시스코 지점을 거쳐 미국 실리콘밸리 스타트업 피플소프트에 입사해 Y2K 문제를 해결해 소프트웨어 회사 피플소프트를 글로벌 IT 회사로 발전시켰습니다.  사내 소프트웨어 대학을 구축하여 새로 시작한 컨설팅부서를 3,000명의 수익 부서로 키우는  발전을 이루었습니다. 미국 1위 ERP 회사로 성장 후 그 당시 실리콘밸리의 최고 거래액  $10 Billion 에 오라클에 인수 합병됐습니다.  2005년 AppliedERP 스타트업에서 초대 사장을 역임한 후, 2013년에는 사회적인 스타트업에 투자하는 비영리  인큐베이터를 시작해 멤버벤처기업들의 기술 경영을 총괄했고 대한민국 미래창조과학부 소프트웨어 중심대학생들과 창조경제혁신센터 스타트업들을 미국으로 초청하는 단기 연수프로그램을 진행했습니다. 운동생활은 유도로서 현대판 장정 100명을 육성하고자 얼바인 유도 체육관을 시작했습니다.   취미생활은 사회봉사활동입니다.
